Senior Operations Manager – Ecommerce

Posted 1 week ago

About the Role

We’re a growing ecommerce company selling physical products across channels including Amazon, Shopify, and eBay, and we’re looking for a hands-on Senior Operations Manager to help run and strengthen the business as we scale.

This person will take ownership of day-to-day execution while also leading the team, improving accountability, and solving problems without constant direction from the founder.

The role combines team leadership, process improvement, and hands-on ecommerce operations. You should be comfortable getting into the details when needed — including suppliers, purchase orders, customer issues, inventory, fulfillment, and operational follow-through — while also maintaining a broader view of priorities and team performance.

As the company grows, the role is expected to evolve toward broader operational leadership and increased ownership across the business.

What You’ll Own

  • Lead and coordinate the day-to-day work of a distributed team across operations, marketing, customer service, and related functions.
  • Set clear priorities, expectations, deadlines, and KPIs.
  • Hold team members accountable for results and follow through consistently.
  • Identify performance issues early and address them directly.
  • Improve communication and collaboration across the team.
  • Make operational decisions independently without escalating every issue to the founder.
  • Bring solutions, recommendations, and a clear point of view.
  • Create and manage purchase orders.
  • Communicate with suppliers and follow up on inventory, fulfillment, and order-related issues.
  • Support customer service escalations when needed.
  • Coordinate operational priorities across ecommerce channels and internal functions.
  • Review workflows and identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Build and improve processes that make the business easier to manage and scale.
  • Ensure projects, orders, and commitments are followed through to completion.
  • Help implement stronger reporting and accountability systems across the team.
  • Work across systems such as Zoho, ecommerce platforms, inventory tools, and communication systems.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong experience managing people directly and holding teams accountable.
  • Proven experience coordinating multiple priorities, functions, or stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions independently.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where priorities can change.
  • Strong spoken English. It does not need to be perfect, but you must be able to communicate confidently with U.S. customers, vendors, and partners.
  • Clear and direct communication style.
  • Proactive mindset — someone who sees what needs to happen and moves it forward.
  • Comfortable respectfully challenging ideas and bringing an independent point of view.
  • Strong sense of ownership and follow-through.
  • Willing to be hands-on when necessary, not someone who only wants to delegate.
  • Ability to balance day-to-day operational details with a broader view of the business.
  • Experience working with U.S.-based companies is strongly preferred.

Nice to Have

  • Ecommerce or retail operations experience.
  • Experience with physical products, inventory, suppliers, purchase orders, logistics, or fulfillment.
  • Familiarity with Amazon, Shopify, eBay, or similar ecommerce platforms.
  • Experience with Zoho Inventory, Zoho CRM, Zoho Books, or related systems.
  • Experience leading remote or international teams.
  • Exposure to automation, AI tools, or operational process improvement.

You’ll Be a Strong Fit If You

  • See a problem and naturally think about possible solutions before escalating it.
  • Are comfortable saying, “I disagree, and here’s why.”
  • Follow up without needing to be reminded.
  • Know how to get a team moving when execution slows down.
  • Can move between leadership conversations and hands-on operational work.
  • Are direct, objective, energetic, and comfortable working with different personalities.
  • Enjoy building structure where processes are still evolving.
  • Want to grow into a broader operations leadership role over time.

What Success Looks Like

In this role, success means:

  • The founder is no longer the default person for every operational decision.
  • The team has clearer priorities, ownership, and accountability.
  • Operational issues are identified and resolved before they become bigger problems.
  • Suppliers, purchase orders, inventory, customer issues, and follow-ups are managed consistently.
  • Team members communicate more effectively and work together more smoothly.
  • Projects and priorities move forward without constant founder intervention.
  • The business operates with greater structure, urgency, and ownership.
  • Processes continue improving as the company scales.

Role Evolution

This role is intentionally broad and will evolve with the company.

Initially, the Senior Operations Manager will be expected to combine leadership with direct operational involvement. As the team, systems, and processes mature, the position will increasingly focus on team leadership, accountability, process improvement, and broader operational ownership.
