About Starpilot
Starpilot is a US-based AI data collection company at the forefront of training next-generation home & factory robotics. We specialize in building high-fidelity data pipelines designed to move AI from the digital world into the physical one. By combining advanced robotics with large-scale real-world data collection, we are creating the foundation for autonomous systems that can navigate and interact with the world as fluidly as humans do.
We move fast, prioritize “boots-on-the-ground” reality over theoretical models, and are currently scaling our data collection operations in Mexico to accelerate our mission.
The Role
We are looking for a General Manager, Operations to lead our data collection efforts in Mexico. You will essentially be CEO of a team that we intend to build to 100+ people across Mexico. This is a high-stakes leadership role for a “fixer” — someone who thrives on complexity, manages with precision, and ensures that experiments are executed “at all costs.”
You will be the bridge between our US engineering team and our local execution force. You will design operations processes & quality assurance, manage an “army” of contractors, oversee technical procurement, and maintain a 24/7 operational rhythm to ensure our data pipeline never stops.
Key Responsibilities
- Partnerships Management: Identify and reach out to a wide range of businesses (including factories) and independent manual and skilled workers across Mexico and surrounding areas.
- Data Operations: Ensure our collected data is securely received and uploaded to our servers.
- Logistics & Procurement: Manage the local supply chain for tools, hardware components, and facility needs. If our data operations needs a specific part or a site needs a specific setup, you make it happen.
- Quality Assurance (QA): Own the integrity of our data. You will implement rigorous QA protocols to ensure the data being fed into our models is world-class and error-free.
- Team Leadership: Rally, manage, and mentor a growing team of logistics contractors and interns. You are responsible for their output, morale, and discipline.
- Operational Excellence: Maintain a 24/7 operational calendar. You will coordinate shifts, manage leave, and ensure our Mexico operations is productive around the clock.
- Process Optimization: Constantly iterate on our data collection workflows to increase efficiency and throughput without sacrificing quality.
Who You Are
- A Natural Leader: Well-spoken and authoritative. You can command a room and inspire a team to meet tight deadlines.
- Diligently Process-Oriented: You believe that “the way you do anything is the way you do everything.” You are obsessed with efficiency and meticulous documentation.
- A Problem Solver: You don’t bring problems; you bring solutions. Whether it’s a hardware malfunction or a scheduling conflict, you handle it with poise.
- Communicative: You can distill complex technical requirements into simple instructions for your team and provide clear, concise updates to the US leadership.
- Grit: You understand that physical AI is messy. You are willing to be on the floor, moving hardware and troubleshooting in the trenches to ensure the experiment succeeds.
Requirements
- Proven experience in operations management, project management, or a leadership role in a fast-paced environment (e.g., manufacturing, logistics, or tech ops).
- Exceptional English and Spanish communication skills (written and verbal).
- Experience managing large, diverse teams of contractors or interns.
- A “hands-on” technical aptitude — you are comfortable working around robotics, hardware, and basic tools.
- Ability to manage complex schedules and resource allocation across multiple time zones.
Why Join Starpilot?
This is an opportunity to be at the ground floor of the next major shift in AI. You will have immense autonomy, the ability to build a team from scratch, and a direct impact on the intelligence of the next generation of robots.
